WELCOME TO PLANET INK TATTOOS

Q: How should I care for my tattoo?

A:You should remove the cover that was put over your tattoo at the studio when you get home and then wash your tattoo gently. Only use your hand and antibacterial soap to wash the area. Rinse off the area and then pat it dry with a new paper towel. Once the area is dry, apply a VERY light coat of A&D ointment, or an ointment such as Aquaphor. Repeat the cleaning and ointment about 3-5 times a day, for 5 days. After the initial five days, you should apply unscented lotion to the tattoo until it is completely healed (about 1-1/2 to 2 weeks). It is normal for your tattoo to peel, but you should let it peel naturally. Never pick at or scratch your tattoo. Never wash it with a cloth or rub it with a towel. How you care for your tattoo is very important!

Q: How should I care for my piercing?

A: Wash the piercing twice a day with mild soap (Dial). Be sure to remove all dried plasma from the new piercing using a Q-tip and saline solution. You should use the Q-tip and saline at least three times per day. Never touch the piercing with unwashed hands. For oral piercings, rinse your mouth out with mouthwash or salt water. If you are using a alcohol based mouthwash, you should mix one-half water and one-half mouthwash for rinsing. Do this at least 4-5 times per day. Rinse your mouth out any time you eat, drink, smoke, etc.

Q: How much is my tattoo going to cost?

A: Prices for tattoos vary greatly, according to size, detail, placement, etc. Tattoos can generally only be quoted in person, and as a rule we do not quote tattoos over the telephone. Our shop minimum is $60.

Q: How much are piercings?
A:
Piercings start at $40 and include the price of jewelry. Most piercings above the waist are $40, but the price can go up depending on the jewelry you choose.

Q: Is my tattoo going to hurt?

A: In short, yes, tattoos hurt. They are not all terrible though. If it is your first tattoo, just relax. It isn't going to be as bad as you think. Some places on the body are worse than others however. When getting your first tattoo, consider if you want it to be in a very painful spot. The chest, near the armpit, and ribs are some of the more painful places to receive a tattoo.

GENERAL ADVICE:

When coming in to get a tattoo, you should be sure you eat before coming in, especially if it is a large tattoo that will take a long time. It is a good idea to have a drink as well, in case you need something during the tattoo.

Be prepared to be in one position for a long time. We always try to make our customers as comfortable as possible, but sometimes both the artist and customer must be in awkward positions during the tattooing process.

Make sure you allot ample time to finish the tattoo. It is a good idea to ask the artist how long the tattoo will take if you are pressed for time. Sometimes tattoos can be done in multiple sessions as well, if you are limited on time. Smaller tattoos generally are completed in one session, however.
